Departments and courses

1.      Clinical medicine

  1. Three year Diploma course in Clinical Medicine and Community Health

2.      Public health

  1. Two year Diploma in Public Health for Developing Countries (weekends, coursework and research).
  2. Two year Diploma in Health Services Management (weekend/evening, coursework and research).
  3. Six month Certificate in Primary Health Care for Developing Countries (Full-time).
  4. Six month Certificate in HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing (Evenings).
  5. Two year Diploma in Reproductive Health (weekend/evening, coursework and research).
  6. Two year Diploma in Health Systems Research.
  7. Two year Diploma in Enviromental Health.
  8. Weekend Certificate Courses (weekends, 11 weeks)
    1. PMTCT of HIV/AIDS.
    2. Breastfeeding.
    3. Family Planning.
    4. HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberclosis.

3.      Oral health

  1. Three Year Diploma in Clinical and Community Dental Health (Dental Public Health) .
  2. One year Certificate Course in Dental Chairside Assisting.

4.      Laboratory Technology

  1. Two year Certificate Course in Laboratory Techniques.

Entry Requirements

Diploma: - At least 2 principal passes in relevant subjects (Ugandans)

Foreigners: - Requirements for their country and UNEB interpretation

Certificate: - At least 5 credit in relevant subjects.

Application/ Interviews: - June/July every year

Admissions: - July/August every year

B.  Research

  1. Student's research: mainly community - based KAP studies in all aspects of health.
  2. School research: mainly about training health workers at community, institutional, student, and teacher levels.
  3. Teaching staff research: Individual – based e.g. medical negligence, e.t.c.
  4. Collaborative research: Training health workers.

C.  Consultancies

  1. All aspects of training e.g. evaluation of specific health training, training needs assessment, curriculum design,e.t.c.
  2. Health and health-related research e.g. health services research (institution or community-based),e.t.c.
  3. Organizing seminars, workshops or conferences in health and related sectors.

D.  Private investigation (Med-Invest services)

  1. In components of the wheel of health (e.g. health services, health policy, sanitation, security, politics, projects, e.t.c.) assigned by various  stakeholders (e.g.individuals, families, districts, government departments, UN agencies, NGOs, Funders, businesses, institutions, e.t.c).
  2. Consultancy services in solving identified problems by Med-Invest services.

E.  Foreign student attachment

1.    Travel and accommodation arrangements.

2.     Well qualified and professional supervisors.

3.     Community Health experiences

4.     Health and health - related research.

5.     Tailored Tourism as specified by student/ institution.

F.  Student exchange programs

Short periods (two to four weeks or longer) in Community Health and hospital practice in Uganda.
